Lives of Generosity: Meet Ayesha

When Ayesha was thirteen years old, her parents left successful careers in California to move to Pakistan. For twenty years, her father, a cardiologist, worked at a hospital that provided free medical care to those in need. Her mother ran an organization that taught economic skills to widows and girls. Ayesha recalls a time when a Pakistani widow with no financial resources save the gold bangles she wore, took them off and offered them for the nation’s debt-relief campaign. She contributed her only savings to the greater good.

Years later, as an adult, when Ayesha was forced to go on disability due to a neurological autoimmune condition, she began giving away 10% of her disability income. To her it was a tribute to the people of Pakistan who taught her about generosity. “To me the 10% feels like just the beginning. I can’t wait to see what more I can do.”
